What a combination and last Thursday evening a full capacity audience of 100 enjoyed both vino and jazz at the Tianna Negre, Bodega on the outskirts of Binissalem. A superb Bodega producing a fantastic selection of wines. Something for all to savour and all of excellent quality. It was the evening of Music & Wine and another concert in the exciting and diverse schedule of the XLIV Festival International of Music of Deia arranged by it’s Director Alfredo Oyaguez. The concert series continues throughout August and September but sadly this concert was the last of four sponsored by Tianna Negre. Despite the warm humid evening the wonderful music of Enric Pastor & Co with Enric on violin who himself teaches at the Conservatory of Mallorca was accompanied by Mallorcans, Sergio Selles on keyboard and Jaume Ginard on drums who has performed in many European countries including the UK. The final artist was Wojtek Soboolewski originally from Poland on Bass who now lives on the island and is a member of the Symphony Orchestra on the Balearic islands.A talented group playing wonderful jazz and this is the beauty of such concerts as it brings together Nationalities from many countries, locals, Germans, English and others all enjoying music and before and after the concert tasting a selection of wines, talking and laughing. All the challenging and sad news we all see in the media is gladly forgotten for the evening. Thank goodness that such events are produced on this wonderful island. We need to relax, release and pull away from the negatives and certainly for over an hour and more we all were transported into a World of jazz of the highest quality.
A concert in the courtyard of the Tianna Negro. What better place to sit surrounded by trees with people enjoying a truly memorable evening. The concert was introduced by Xisca Morey Garau from Tianna Negre who has been the instigator and organiser of all the concerts and each of the four sponsored concerts could not be faulted. All went smoothly with friendly staff, vino for all and many attending later visited the well stocked shop to buy some of the wonderful vinos from the large selection produced in the vineyards surrounding the Bodega. I, for one did succumb purchasing a few bottles of a fine Blanco and Tinto which will be opened and enjoyed with friends at the end of the summer. Well, that is the plan although maybe I shall keep them to myself!
So another concert came to an end and new friends were made, the band loved the evening and well done to all. The icing on the cake as we say, is that all ticket sale proceeds of the 100 attending some 2500 euros will be go to the Research Group for breast cancer research at the Hospital Universitaro Son Espases.
