The Tramuntana Academy Launches: A space for learning, wellness & creativity

A former international school leader launches a bold new hub for learning, wellbeing and creativity

A new educational and wellness hub is set to reshape how communities learn, grow and connect in the north of Mallorca. The Tramuntana Academy, founded by Elodie Carle, former Head of Languages, Mindfulness Lead and teacher trainer in both the UK and Mallorca will officially open on 12th January 2026, following a press launch on 10th January from 4–7pm.

Carle believes there is a gap on the island for a more varied and better-integrated approach to learning. The Academy reimagines education for the modern age, prioritising practical skills, human connection and holistic development over traditional desk-based learning. The school welcomes learners of all ages, from toddlers to adults, creating a vibrant community space designed to enrich minds, support wellbeing and foster social connection. Built on three interconnected pillars that include; academics, wellbeing and creativity, it offers everything you’d expect from an international school in terms of language acquisition, complemented by immersive sports, holistic experiences and a rich arts programme.

“We’re moving away from traditional learning methods,” explains Elodie Carle.
“With AI and translation tools becoming ubiquitous, the human elements of education, speaking, interacting, creating, connecting, have never been more vital. These are skills AI can’t replicate, and they’re what we’re championing.”

The facility offers comprehensive language programmes for speakers of all ages and levels from Catalan to German, Spanish to English, tailored to the demands and needs of each group.

Programme include:

Languages:

  • An innovative English Language immersion programme for primary-age children (2–5pm sessions) led by fully qualified teachers. Addressed to families with children from local schools finishing early who want children to become fluent speakers over time. A perfect alternative to costly international schools.
  • Spanish Language immersion programme for primary-age children (10am–1pm sessions every Saturday) led by fully qualified teachers. Perfect for international families wanting their children to develop fluency in Spanish in an engaging, communicative environment.
  • GCSE and A-Level support for homeschoolers through The Academic Studio — an online learning hub providing structure, motivation, academic support, and guidance through the entire exam process
    • Led by fully qualified UK teachers
    • Designed around scientific research showing teenagers learn best after 10am
    • Offered at a fraction of international school fees
  • Trinity exam board qualifications for languages and arts – diploma-level, practical, hands-on learning that is less academic than GCSE but equally recognised
  • Adult language courses in groups or one-to-one
  • Polish Sunday School (10am–1pm) for all ages and levels, taught by native Polish teachers
    • Focused on speaking, fun arts and crafts, drama, literature, creative writing, listening, and above all joyful cultural learning

The focus? Practical, conversational fluency. Less grammar drilling, more real-world interaction.

Wellbeing:

  • Dance classes: salsa, bachata, sevillanas
  • Yoga and meditation sessions
  • Therapeutic treatments
  • Self-defence courses

A key Academy ethos is that the three pillars intertwine. A student enrolled in academics can also join wellness or creative arts sessions, for example, an A-level learner might begin the morning with yoga and end with salsa in the evening, supporting mental health, balance and confidence.

Arts

Year-round workshops and classes bring creativity to life:

  • Painting and visual arts
  • Music therapy (including sessions for expectant mothers)
  • Creative writing for adults and children
  • Pottery
  • Drama and performance
  • Music lessons and singing

“Traditional education often fails to meet the diverse needs of modern families,” says Elodie Carle. “Whether you’re homeschooling, looking for adult education, seeking community connection, or wanting your children to develop practical life skills alongside academics, The Academy provides a framework that works for real life, not just exam results. As an expat, community has been essential to my own wellbeing, and creating a space where people can belong, support each other and grow together was a fundamental part of this project. The Academy itself is a collaboration of loved ones, the logo created by my husband, the name gifted by our close friend, a true reflection of the community spirit we hope to nurture.”

Elodie Carle brings a rich background in languages and humanities, extensive UK teaching and leadership experience, and fluency in four languages (French, German, Spanish, English). She previously served as Head of Languages at Wimbledon College, UK, became a Senior Lecturer in a  famous London University training future teachers, and taught at a prestigious international school in Mallorca, where she also served as Lead of Mindfulness. She was trained at the University of Cumbria, UK, famous for promoting language learning through games, songs, actions and target language. Her commitment to holistic, human-centred education shapes The Academy’s unique approach.

The Tramuntana Academy Port de Pollença welcomes learners, creators and community members of all ages to experience education differently – where communicating matters more than translating, where creativity matters as much as curriculum, and where connection is at the heart of everything.
