Calvia, November 29th, 2022.- “Nick Kyrgios returns to the Mallorca Championships in 2023” announced Toni Nadal, tournament director, at the press conference held this morning at the Mallorca Country Club. The finalist of Wimbledon 2022 will play for the second consecutive year on the Mallorcan grass. The tennis star, a guarantee for spectacular tennis, will seek his first title in Spain after he was forced to withdraw in round 2 of last year’s edition of the Mallorca Championships due to a minor injury.
Toni Nadal has valued the presence of the eccentric Australian player as evidence of the growth of the tournament that in 2023 will celebrate its third edition: “the Mallorca Championships is an essential event to prepare for Wimbledon, the best players want to be here and the fact of being able to announce Nick is a sign of the good work that is being done”. Kyrgios, who has just finished the season playing at the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin, will be one of the main attractions looking to succeed Stefanos Tsitsipas and Daniil Medvedev as the first two champions in the islands.
