Angelique Kerber – latest honorary member of the Mallorca Country Club

The three-time Grand Slam winner and Wimbledon champion has just filmed the advertising campaign for her new range of skincare products at the Santa Ponça club’s facilities.

The Mallorca Country Club MCC in Santa Ponça has one more famous honorary member. As announced by club owner Edwin Weindorfer, the three-time Grand Slam and Wimbledon champion joins the illustrious ranks of existing honorary members, which include tennis legends such as Novak Djokovic, Daniil Medvedev, Rafa Nadal and Boris Becker, as well as celebrities such as Albert of Monaco and, also newly appointed, Princess Brigitta of Sweden.

Edwin Weindorfer was proud to announce that Angelique Kerber, a leading tennis personality, is the Clubs latest honorary member: “We are delighted to welcome Angelique, another former Wimbledon winner, to Mallorca Country Club”.

The Bremen-born player herself explained, “I love the club, which I have known since I played the 2018 Mallorca Open tournament here. The fact that I now have a little ‘oasis’ in Mallorca, where I can perhaps also prepare for the upcoming tournaments, is of course a luxury,” said Kerber.

To begin with, she shoot an advertisement in her new club of honor for her own skin care line, newkee, which she launched together with former professional footballer Manuel Neuer.

Kerber, an avowed lover of the grass court, has the opportunity to train in ideal conditions on the island. The Mallorca Country Club is the only one in Southern Europe that offers the opportunity to play on real six courts with Wimbledon grass.

Angelique Kerber

Born in Bremen on 18 January 1988, Kerber turned professional in 2003 and quickly rose through the ranks. She won her first Grand Slam title at the Australian Open in 2016, when she defeated the legendary Serena Williams in a thrilling final. With her triumph, Kerber demonstrated her tenacity and skill on the court.

The German continued her winning streak by prevailing at the 2016 US Open, cementing her status as the dominant force in women’s tennis. Her consistent performances and ability to handle pressure situations secured her the affection of fans around the world.

In 2018, Kerber reached another milestone with her victory at Wimbledon, her third Grand Slam win. Her tactical ability and versatility on different surfaces make her a feared rival among professional tennis players.

Mallorca Country Club

The Mallorca Country Club is the venue of the Mallorca Championships. From 22 to 29 June, the ATP tournament will bring, for the fourth consecutive time, world-class players to the island to compete in a Mediterranean setting and prepare for Wimbledon.

In previous years, legends such as Novak Djokovic, Daniil Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas have played in front of the enthusiastic Santa Ponça crowd. In the 2023 edition, a total of 25,000 visitors enjoyed the exciting matches and the attractive program of the world-class event.

Tennis fans will also be able to enjoy the MCC for the rest of the year. The club is the only one of its kind in Europe to offer all three tennis surfaces, in addition to five clay courts and one hard court, there are six grass courts with real Wimbledon grass. There are also four paddle courts for playing with colleagues and friends.

As a tribute to the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, which hosts the legendary Wimbledon tournament, the MCC has also launched a croquet program. Every three weeks, lovers of the quintessential British sport have the opportunity to hit round balls through small arches on the Wimbledon lawn.

The Mallorca Country Club also offers a swimming pool, a state-of-the-art gymnasium, wellness areas with trained therapists and personalized fitness programs, as well as a restaurant with excellent, healthy cuisine. The club is set in a picturesque landscape and has a charming Mediterranean atmosphere.

Numerous interesting events are held at the MCC every month: in March, for example, there is a tennis camp for children, International Women’s Day activities and an Easter egg hunt. Some of the events are open only to members of the Club, others offer special discounts for members.

The club offers several categories of membership, for example for residents, second homeowners, families and companies.
