It was the final curtain last Thursday at the beautiful venue of Son Marroig as sadly the XLIV International Music Festival of Deia came to an end. A season to remember with so many wonderful concerts and such talented performers who came not only from the island but from Europe and the USA. Alfredo Oyaguez, the Festival Director had created a series of concerts that brought joy and experiences not to be forgotten from June to the final concert on September 29th. It was a privilege to attend so many excellent concerts on behalf of Celebrity Mallorca Magazine and to bring our readers into the Festival through our articles and to promote the Festival. Do not miss out next year as I can guarantee that new artists will be part of the 2023 Festival adding to those that were so amazing this season. More concerts, more venues and I am sure more sponsors to support what is becoming a prestigious Festival for the island. And so it was that the final concert was performed by Mallorcan Neus Estarellas, whose talent on the Steinway piano was faultless. Neus performs all over Europe and her repertoire is wide from the well known classical music pieces to what is the new and different pieces with African influence accompanied by electronic sounds. Something certainly different that I have never experienced before. Some pieces to reflect upon as Neus played with such passion and faultlessly explaining to all about the piece before playing albeit in Spanish and German which was a challenge for me. I say no more!!!One unique part of her performance is to play what is a toy piano, as they call it.
It is no toy but a small grand piano which has a different tone to that of the grand pianos. It was something I have not seen before and I am sure that the majority of the audience had not seen either. It was a superb performance, a concert in a beautiful location and room fitting to bring the Festival’s season to a closure. A Mallorcan pianist and young with such talent, so do look out for Neus playing at concerts on the island. You will not be disappointed. So we move on to 2023 and Celebrity Mallorca magazine, shall without doubt bring you all the news in the future as it unfolds.
