"Ahoy Captain"

THE SHOW MUST GO ON

By DAVID WHITNEY

Palma ruled the waves once again as the International Boat Show returned to Moll Vell from June 3rd to 6th. After a year long wait, a sense of normality returned, as did the visitors to what is a superb day out. Yes, online visitor tickets were limited but what a show!!. Despite some unsettled weather, the air was full of chatter and awe for many seeing the super-yachts up close. Maybe for some, dreaming of that euro millions win and being faced with another challenge. Which yacht to buy?. All the major brands were there and the luxury and designs of Yachts was breathtaking. We are all so lucky to live on this beautiful island and what better place is there to own a boat, however big or small..The restaurants were buzzing, and it was smiles all round for everyone who loves the sea, boats, yachts and much more. There was glamour on some stands and a friendliness throughout the event. So much for those that own a boat or yacht, but like me, even if you do not have the pleasure of ownership there were stands that promoted jet ski’s, electric bikes and scooters, stand up electric surf boards and my favourite. The electric surf board with a rising foil, Watching these boards going through their paces with ease made me think. “Yes I have to try one out this Summer”The Stand up electric boards can be found in Palma Nova and can also be rented so check them out. The electric Surf board, not so easy but a great toy for a super Yacht owner. Electric bikes and even sustainable boats. All was there to view and visit. In all some 227 exhibitors and an amazing 185 boats moored to see. Many more small and large craft and ribs were displayed on static stands so there was little excuse for not fulfilling your dreams and enjoying the beautiful sea around Mallorca as the sun shines in the deep blue sky. Porsche also showed off their exciting new electric powered Taycan. A road test beckons!
So 4 successful days came to an end. Great organisation and safe protocols created a day out for owners, buyers and those that merely wanted to get a taste of the World of boating and much more. If you did not go this year, then do not miss out on next Year’s Palma International Boat Show. Celebrities will be there as will Celebrity Magazine.
